On Monday June 8, 2026 senior Trinamool Congress MP Sukhendu Sekhar Roy has resigned from Rajya Sabha and from TMC party. Sukhendu Sekhar Roy has been considered one of the challenging voices in TMC party and he had kept distance from the party after the fiasco in 2026 assembly polls in state.
Within the party he raises many significant issues like corruption and said there was no introspection and no support for raising voice in the party nobody was allowed to raise his or her voice. Sukhendu’s resignation has brought light to other MP’s resignation and separation from TMC party.
He also reported to media that legislatures did not have had the confidence that party was running in the right direction and there was no forum within party to discuss political issues and other social issues. He also mentioned about the incident that happened at Kolkata’s R G Kar hospital he said that as he was raising his voice against this issue, but he was sidelined.

He was a former congress leader and had great relationship with Late Pranab Mukharjee. He also served in Rajya Sabha since 2011 and was chief whip till 2025.
