A 3-year-old girl has reportedly died after a sexual assault took place in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. The news has caused a stir amongst the people of the region owing to the issue of law and order and the safety of children in the state. The police authorities of the state have made an arrest in connection with the incident.
As per sources from the police department, the case took place at SIPCOT Industrial Estate, Gummidipoondi, where the girl’s family lived. They informed that the accused man apparently enticed the girl from her house before committing the sexual assault. Afterward, the victim was discovered with injuries, brought to the hospital, and later died there due to the extent of the injuries.
The person behind the crime has been named as Bipin Manjhi, a 19-year-old migrant worker who hails from Bihar. As per the reports, police officials have already detained the accused for his crimes. Moreover, investigators said that, considering all the evidence collected by now, they found that just one person was responsible for the crime.
It has become an issue that has led to a lot of outrage in the locality, with people calling for justice and measures to be taken in terms of safeguarding children. It has been said that an inquiry is going to be conducted into the matter and all the required evidence will be considered.
The matter soon became a political one, with the leader of the opposition in the state condemning the state government’s way of dealing with matters of law and order. In fact, Udhayanidhi Stalin, who is the leader of the opposition, has condemned the matter and demanded strict action against those who committed the crime. He went on to say that protests could break out if justice was not served swiftly.
The matter has put immense pressure on the state government to do something about the issue of crimes against women and children.
The activists for children’s rights have emphasized that the prevention of such acts requires community vigilance, awareness campaigns, and quick response mechanisms. Child protection laws need to be enforced strictly and there is a need for assistance for the families of the victimized children.
