After US detectives determined that the suspect in Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance was carrying the popular backpack, online searches for the Ozark Trail Hiker backpack have increased, turning a common retail item into a potentially game-changing clue.
According to CCTV released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the suspect is seen carrying a Walmart-branded 25 liter Ozark Trail Hiker Pack. Because individuals are comparing internet photographs with what they may have seen locally, the confirmation has increased public interest in the goods.
The FBI also raised the prize for reliable information on Guthrie’s whereabouts from $55,000 to $100,000 as the hunt entered its 12th day. The suspect was characterized by investigators as “a male, approximately 5’9″ to 5’10” tall, with an average build.”

The FBI has now formally acknowledged that the backpack looked to be Walmart’s Ozark Trail Hiker Pack, as TMZ had previously reported, citing law enforcement sources. So far, authorities have failed to identify a suspect.
The backpack is receiving more attention at the same time that there is a broader call for community support. Residents in the vicinity of Guthrie’s residence have been asked by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department to provide doorbell and CCTV footage from the evening of January 31, the night of her kidnapping.
Users within two miles of her home get alerts through the Neighbors App.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said on X, An alert was just sent via Neighbors App to users within a 2 mile radius of Nancy Guthrie’s residence near East Skyline Drive and North Campbell Avenue.
Investigators are also reviewing video of a man wearing a black bag who was seen that evening a few miles from Guthrie’s house. Among the items being reviewed is the video, which is thought to have been captured by a neighbor’s door camera.
