During his performance in Hyderabad, stand-up comedian Zakir Khan declared a lengthy hiatus from live performances.
Zakir Khan’s staff reports that the comedian has chosen to take a long break from live performances, possibly until 2030, due to personal and health concerns.
On Tuesday afternoon, Zakir hinted at the split in a tale posted on his Instagram account. He confirmed that the choice was definite after posting another update after reaching Dubai.
“Every show is a celebration until June 20,” he added. This season, I won’t be able to visit many cities, so please do your hardest to attend the shows. I appreciate all of your love.
Zakir Khan, meantime, created history last year when he became the first Indian comedian to perform in Hindi at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Zakir, who is adored throughout India for his “sakht launda” demeanor and accessible humor, shared the poignant occasion with his Instagram followers. He described it as a “big day” and talked about how intimidating it was to do Hindi humor for 6,000 people.
He described the performance as a unique turning point in his career and continued to thank his friends and colleagues for their support. Celebrity chef Vikas Khanna and actor Kal Penn were among those supporting him, adding to the evening’s memorability.
After winning Comedy Central’s India’s Best Stand-Up competition in 2012, Zakir Khan initially became well-known. With stand-up specials like Haq Se Single, Kaksha Gyarvi, and others, he has since amassed a sizable fan base in India and outside.
During a recent live performance in Hyderabad, comedian Zakir Khan announced that he plans to take a long break from comedy that could run till 2030.
He stated that he wants to prioritize his health after years of nonstop touring.
A video of Khan discussing his choice on stage during his current “Papa Yaar” comedy tour went viral on Tuesday. According to Khan, the hiatus may potentially continue for a number of years, up to 2028, 2029, or 2030.
“I’m taking a long, lengthy hiatus that will likely go until 2028, 2029, or 2030. Khan thanked the audience for their support and stated, “I have to take care of my health and to sort out a few other things.”
I have a deep affection for everyone in this room tonight. You have no idea how much your presence means to me, and I will always be appreciative of you all. “Thank you very much,” he continued.
The stand-up comedian announced in September of last year that he would be taking a hiatus from his enormous touring schedule in order to prioritize his health.
For the past ten years, I have been touring. Even though I’m really fortunate to have your love and affection, traveling this much is unhealthy. The comedian-actor posted on his Instagram Story, “Trying to satisfy everyone you meet, 2-3 shows in a day, sleepless nights, early morning flight, and of course, no schedule for meals.”
On October 24, 2025, the Papa Yaar tour got underway. Zakir played at a number of cities throughout the tour, including Bangalore, Kolkata, Delhi, Ahmedabad, and Vadodara.
In addition to starring in the Prime Video series Chacha Vidhayak Hain Humare, Zakir is well-known for his comedic specials such as Haq Se Single Hai, Kaksha Gyarvi, and Tathastu.
