In country like India women’s character is always judged on minute things. Even in the rape cases the victim is blamed for the massacre that happened to her. Now the question arises if a woman chose to be in a relationship before marriage but somehow it does not work out will she be considered as characterless. If there is any physical relationship between both adults, will it arise question over women’s character? Well supreme court passed a statement regarding that. Pre-marital relationship still continues to contain social Stigma.
Well, this matter highlighted because of the recent incident. Thirupathi had been selected for the post of stipendiary Cadet trainee police constable; he disclose that a criminal case had been file against him in 2014. The case stemmed because of a relationship he had with a woman who was his neighbor, matter letter on settled Lok Adalat in 2015 after both sides reached a compromise and no rape case charged under section 376 IPC.
Yet Telangana state level police viewed this case has moral turpitude and terminated his selection. This matter presented in different level of judiciary even Telangana High court twice old in his favor, but a division bench later overturned that decision. Later on, Thirupathi filed his case in supreme court.
The bench passed a statement that a settlement before Lok Adalat cannot automatically be interpreted as admission of guilt nor can an employer resume misconduct mainly because the criminal case ended in compromise. Judges pointed out there had been no evidence that the complainant was forced.

Well, this case not only sums up to judgement, but it also passed a broader message. In Country like India where technology changes have been rapid, but the mentality of people has been still stuck to past.
According to bench pre-marital relationships are contemporary society and institution must be sensitive and adaptable to change in Times rather than relying on rigid rules of the past. Judges also said that where two adults are in relationship and there has been valid consent, it won’t be considered as something that is forced or coerced.
