Another roadblock to the much anticipated comeback of one of the most popular comedy series in the history of Bollywood has occurred. Akshay Kumar has made it clear that Hera Pheri 3 is in no way going on, and left fans disappointed after months of conjecture on the status of the film.
In a recent communication, the actor clarified the fact that the movie is not under production at the moment despite the rumours that have been doing rounds. It is not currently being produced, he said, which quashed hopes that the project was on track once again.
There is still confusion regarding the cult franchise
The Hera Pheri series, whose first film was released in 2000, and which was followed by an equally successful sequel, has amassed a huge following over the years. The legendary three Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty, are one of the most well-known pairs in Hindi movies.
Due to this legacy, any new news concerning the third instalment attracts much attention. But the recent word of Akshay indicates that the movie is way off the ground.
Even he, he confessed, is surprised at the situation. I am appalled, I said to myself, which many of us fans are feeling.
No casting problem, more serious issues
Raising the speculation that the delays could be caused by the inability to fit in the schedule or the problem of the lead actors, Akshay refuted them. He explained that the three actors are continuing working collectively and have a good equation.

Actually, the three are going to feature in another project, Welcome to the Jungle, and this further confirms that the delay is not because of any fallout between the three.
Rather, the actor implied more intricate issues under the carpet. He said that there are many problems with the film, though he did not elaborate on them, and that he was not at liberty to talk about them.
Courts and manufacturing issues
According to industry reports, the project has been mired in a legal and production related snare. The issues on intellectual property rights and right to own the franchise have been reported to drastically slow down the progress.

Internal feuds have also happened at various levels such as interim exits and disengagement of major cast members over contractual issues. These have contributed towards making the film hard to transition into active production.
Other filmmakers like Anees Bazmee and Priyadarshan have been previously associated with the project though there is yet to be clear direction.
Waiting fans again took their departure
The delay is especially disappointing to fans since Hera Pheri is not any other movie series – it is a cultural phenomenon. Even to this date, the dialogues, characters and scenes of the previous films are the subject of trends on social media.
The anticipation of the third part has just been deepening with time, and each failure seems magnified.
However, Akshay Kumar has not totally denied the prospect of making the film some time in the future. He said that he hoped that things could just fall into place.
I believe it will occur at the appropriate time, he said, and all he hopes is that the project will come into being before it is too late.
At the moment, Hera Pheri 3 is in the limbo, and no schedule is confirmed. Fans will have to wait a little longer to get to see one of the most iconic comedy franchises in the history of Bollywood due to the legal and production problems.
