Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) has recently announced a major push into the aspect of artificial intelligence and the concept of data infrastructure space by planning to set up a 1-gigawatt AI data centre in Andhra Pradesh.
The MoU was signed with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, as the state is eager to position itself as a future hub for data-driven technologies.
The upcoming project, which is going to be deployed in the state, will also serve as a “twin” to RIL’s existing data centre, which is present in Jamnagar, Gujarat, creating a vast AI network across India.
The data centre will also be capable of hosting thousands of high-performance AI processors, thus including GPUs and TPUs and enabling the concept of large-scale AI computation, various cloud services, and even tata storage capabilities.
This move comes as the AI adoption across various industries is expected would grow rapidly, thus making robust infrastructure essential for the move of innovation and the field of digital transformation.
To power this massive facility sustainably, Reliance will also set up a 6-gigawatt solar power project in the state.
This will not only meet the high energy needs of the AI data centre but will also contribute significantly to the aspect of Andhra Pradesh’s renewable energy capacity, thus initiating and moving forward with India’s clean tech goals.
Among other initiatives, a Greenfield Integrated Food Park will also be developed, thus bringing agricultural processing and even the facility of storage infrastructure to the Rayalaseema region.
The data centre is also expected to generate thousands of direct and indirect job opportunities:,from technical roles to even the construction and maintenance jobs.
With both sustainability and advanced technology at the core, the project helps to strengthen Reliance’s vision of the initiative of building future-ready infrastructure while boosting the state’s economic growth.
This strategic investment in the area of Andhra Pradesh also helps to mark another milestone in India’s journey to becoming a global digital powerhouse, especially in the field of AI and cloud space.
