The Redmi sub-brand of Xiaomi is ready to add to its already popular line of Redmi Note in India, with the introduction of Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G and Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G today.
The smartphones will be launched to Indian consumers in an event that will be held at 11:00 am IST, even though they have already been launched in selected markets around the world. Both of these models will be sold through Amazon, where special teaser pages have already been created.
Prior to the formal launch, Redmi has disclosed some of the major specifications, making the Note 15 Pro series to be feature-rich devices, targeting photography enthusiast, power users, and gamers as well.
The rear camera is one of the most significant features of the new models, as both models have 200 megapixels. It is also evident that Redmi is refocusing on the imaging performance, and this high-resolution sensor is likely to be providing detailed shots, better low-light photography and better zoom functions.
Although the camera specifications will be fully specified at launch, according to the teasers of the company, photography will form a significant accent of the series.
Another outstanding feature is the display. The effective size in the Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G and Note 15 Pro+ 5G is a big 6.83-inch AMOLED screen with 1.5K and a peak brightness of 3,200 nits, which is one of the brightest displays in the segment.
Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 is used to secure the screens, providing resistance to the scratches and unintentional drops. Redmi has also gone the extra mile to make its products durable with IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K dust and water resistance ratings, not common in such a low-price product.
The two phones are also different with regard to processors, which are located under the hood. Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G is based on MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultra that is likely to provide moderate performance and efficiency in daily use, gaming, and multitasking.
In the meantime, the higher-end variant of Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chip, which is expected to provide better performance, graphics, and AI.
Another area that Redmi is stretching is battery life. Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G has a large battery capacity of 6,580mAh that can support both wired fast charging of 45W and reverse charging of 18W, and be used to charge other devices.
The Pro+ model has a marginally smaller 6,500mAh battery but compensates by being capable of going exceptionally fast on the wired charging with 100W of power, and reverse charging with 22.5W of power, so that there is a minimum amount of downtime.
The Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G will be available in Carbon Black, Mirage blue and Silver Ash colour options in terms of design and storage options. It will have 8GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB.
Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G, on the contrary, will be offered in Carbon Black, Coffee Mocha, and Mirage Blue, and the options will include 8GB + 256GB, 12GB + 256GB, and 12GB + 512GB.
Official India pricing will be unveiled at launch but leaks indicate that the Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G will be priced at between about Rs. 30,999 whilst the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G will be priced at between about Rs. 38,999. Such values place the devices right in the middle of the high-end market, where rivalry is strong.
The Redmi Note 15 Pro series will have a 200MP camera, ultra-bright AMOLED screen, massive battery, powerful chipsets and it seems to be made in a rugged build, posing a threat to companies that have flagship features but cannot charge flagship prices.
