A new study has now revealed something surprising about the way humans communicate today: people are not only just writing like ChatGPT, but they are also beginning to speak like it.
According to the recent research that is being done by researchers, the growing influence of AI tools in daily life has thus started to change the way people form sentences, express their ideas and even hold conversations.
The study thus also explains that constant interaction with the AI is subtly shaping modern language patterns.
Researchers have thus observed thousands of text messages, emails, voice notes and social media posts across different age groups.
The results showed a clear rise in “AI-style communication.” This includes more structured replies, clearer sentences, polite phrasing of sentences and it also shows a tendency to explain thoughts in a step-by-step manner.
All of these traits are commonly seen in ChatGPT’s responses. Many participants were even found using phrases like “in summary,” “on the other hand” and “based on your question,” even in casual conversations.
What surprised the experts the most was that the shift was not limited to written communication. People also began speaking in a more organized and even in a more predictable tone during real-life conversations. Instead of quick, natural replies, there are many now give answers that sound carefully arranged.
For example, someone might respond with mini-summaries, give reasons in the structured points or they may even use complete, polished sentences in everyday discussions. This language style, which was once unique to AI models, is slowly becoming a normal part of human speech.
The study thus also suggests that the change is happening just because AI tools are used daily for chatting, writing, studying and they are even used in daily life for decision-making.
When people repeatedly read AI-generated text, they even unconsciously start copying the patterns. Young adults, who use AI more frequently, also show these changes most strongly.
Many teachers have thus also noticed that students now write assignments in a tone that closely resembles AI-generated content, even when they claim to have written it themselves.
Another interesting finding that have recently came up is that people are becoming more neutral and polite in their messages. While this can make communication smoother, experts warn that it may also reduce the aspect of emotional expression.
Human conversations might start to feel “too formal” or they may even start to feel “too scripted,” which would again look like they are losing natural spontaneity.
The study thus concludes that language is always evolving, and today AI has become one of the biggest forces shaping it. As technology continues to grow, the way we speak and write will likely keep changing, blending human style with AI-inspired patterns.
