A 45 year old resident of Prayagraj was allegedly beaten to death after objecting to wedding guests urinating near his home. Police have arrested six people, including a constable posted in Mau district.

On Friday, police quoted a man who was beaten to death after an altercation with visitors to a wedding in the Naini locality of Prayagraj. They have arrested six of the 12 named accused who include a police constable.

The event happened late on Thursday night in the Madauka locality in Sanjay Guest house when a marriage event was being held. Police officials claimed that the victim, Rajesh Nishad, resided near the venue.

Assistant commissioner of police Sunil Kumar stated that the control room got a call via the emergency helpline that there was some violent scuffle outside the banquet hall. On arrival of the officers at the location, Nishad was found badly wounded.

There is preliminary investigation to indicate that part of the wedding procession had been urinating in front of the house of the victim. At this Nishad protested and there was an argument. This scuffle soon turned rough and the accused is alleged to have beaten him with an iron rod.

Nishad was rushed by police to hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. His body is being taken to the post mortem examination to ascertain the actual cause of death.

On a complaint presented by the family, an FIR has been registered against 12 people by name. The ACP also confirmed that six individuals were already arrested including the principal accused who was known as Sunil Kanojia.

Kanojia, a police official, is in service a constable operating in the Mau district and had gone to the wedding of his cousin in the guest house. Officials are investigating additional information about his position and the implication of the rest of the people mentioned in the complaint.

The event has created a friction in the locality with residents in dismay that a small protest during a party can lead to lethal violence. Other police departments have also been dispatched in the region as a precaution and the officers reported that efforts are being made to capture the remaining accused.

According to senior officials, the investigation would be looking into eyewitness testimonies, forensic evidence and other video footage of the location or the surrounding areas. The police have assured the family that it will take a decisive action against any one found to be guilty.

The assassination has again brought issues on how people act in great number and how they should be dealt with before any conflict escalates into a life or death situation.
