Azamgarh Police have now arrested a rape case accused who had been hiding in West Bengal for several weeks.
The accused is a resident of Uttar Pradesh and had vanished after a rape case was registered against him earlier this year.
Police had been searching for him for a long time, and a special team was also formed for the same to trace his movements.
During the investigation, police had also used technical surveillance and even collected inputs from local sources to help identify the accused’s location.
Officials have also said that he kept changing his places of hideouts to avoid arrest and even travelled from one district of West Bengal to another.
After confirming his exact location, a police team from Azamgarh left for West Bengal, thereby coordinated with the local police there.
A joint operation was also conducted in the early hours, and the accused was also caught without any major resistance.
Police have also said the arrest was smooth because they had planned the operation carefully and had even monitored the hideout for several hours before entering.
He was also taken into custody and will now be brought back to Azamgarh for any kind of further legal procedures.
Authorities have thus also stated that strict action will be taken to ensure proper investigation and justice in the case. The arrest, therefore, shows that criminals cannot escape the law by crossing state borders or hiding in other states.
Police have also added that they are committed to maintaining safety, supporting victims, and ensuring that serious crimes are handled quickly and effectively.
