Exit polls for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections have now predicted a clear and decisive comeback for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). This party is being led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (United) [JDU].
The alliance is now expected by all the exit polls to secure a larger majority than in the previous term, which would thus signal strong voter confidence in the allied governance and leadership.
According to multiple survey agencies, the NDA could also win around two-thirds of the total 243 assembly seats.
On the other side, the opposition Mahagathbandhan, which is being led by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress, appears to be losing ground.
Analysts now also suggest that Nitish Kumar’s image as a stable administrator and also as the central government’s welfare schemes have played a crucial role in the overall shaping of the voter sentiment across all the famous rural and urban regions.
The exit polls also indicate that the RJD’s campaign, even though being aggressive, also failed to convert youth enthusiasm into a proper number of votes.
Tejashwi Yadav’s appeal also seems limited when it is being compared to the NDA’s broad outreach, thus being particularly among women and first-time voters.
The BJP’s strong organisational structure and even the efforts of current Prime Minister Narendra Modi continued popularity have also further strengthen the NDA’s position.
If the predictions hold, Nitish Kumar may also return as Chief Minister for another term, thus solidifying his position as one of the longest-serving leaders in Bihar politics.
Meanwhile, the opposition will need to reevaluate its strategy and leadership to remain relevant in future electoral battles.
The final results, which have been scheduled to be declared soon, will also confirm whether the exit poll predictions translate into actual seats, but for now, the numbers currently suggest that Bihar’s electorate has once again placed its trust in the whole idea of the NDA’s leadership and also in its promises of continued development.
