Constitution Day 2025, which is also known as Samvidhan Diwas, is currently observed on November 26 every year to viewpoint of the adoption of the Indian Constitution.
On this day in 1949, the Constituent Assembly formally accepted the Constitution, which later came into effect on January 26, 1950.
The day also reminds citizens of India’s democratic journey and the vision of the leaders who worked tirelessly to build the nation’s governing framework.
The most important figure who has been associated with this historic moment is Dr B.R. Ambedkar, who was the Chairman of the Drafting Committee.
His deep knowledge of law, social justice, and governance hence played a crucial role in shaping the Constitution. The document is also designed in a way that lays down the rights, duties, and responsibilities of every Indian and ensures justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity for all citizens.
Samvidhan Diwas was officially declared in 2015 to help spread the aspect of awareness about constitutional values, especially among the younger generation.
Schools, colleges, government offices, and various organisations help conduct special programs, debates, and discussions to highlight the importance of the Constitution.
Reading the Preamble, understanding fundamental rights, and also the idea of recognising fundamental duties are common activities on this day.
The Constitution of India is one of the longest written constitutions in the world.
It also reflects the diverse nature of the country and aims to protect all the communities while maintaining unity and harmony. It also provides the structure for the government, which is hereby the one including the powers of the legislature, executive, and judiciary.
