The general strike that has been called by different trade union organisations across the country on Thursday is not likely to affect Karnataka much, and the majority of the state services are expected to operate as usual.
Although there would be some disruption on the banking activities, the authorities have also assured that the buses, metro, flights, and schools would operate at normal times.
Central trade unions have called the strike and organisations representing agricultural workers, rural labourers and informal sector employees have supported the strike.
A number of States will most probably experience the involvement in a range of sectors, yet authorities in Karnataka have attempted to assure people that measures have been made to eliminate inconvenience to commuters and the overall population.
The banking industry requires that employees who are members of the All India Bank Employees Association and the Bank Employees Federation of India are supposed to go on strike.
This may lead to a delay in normal transactions by customers visiting the branches, decreased counter service and even postponement of non essential work. Nevertheless, online banking services, mobile applications and ATM services will continue to exist, depending on local circumstances.
Fears of major disruption have been worked down by the public transport authorities. The KSRTC Staff and Workers Federation has stated that it supports the strike morally however explained that this did not imply that buses would be off the roads.
One of the senior members of the federation responded that the organisation is in solidarity with workers against the federation increasing their demands on the national level, but massive interruption of services is not expected.
In a similar line of thought, a senior official of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation stated that buses would run normally in all divisions. The official further said that guidelines have been issued so that commuters, particularly those who commute to work, education or medical requirements, are not subjected to troubles.
The Bangalore Metro Transport Corporation has also declared that it would continue to operate its services normally. Passengers who rely on the BMTC buses to travel to Bengaluru daily have been advised to maintain routine schedules, since the corporation does not see absenteeism as a way of impacting its operations in a huge manner.
Sources with Bangalore International Airport Limited at Kempegowda International Airport told that they have not been advised by any means of the strike.
Authorities reported that there are no signs as yet that there will be disruption of flight schedules and airport operation. They noted that the passengers would be notified early enough in case of any change.
The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited has also announced that Namma Metro trains will operate in their regular schedule. The guarantee will be a relief to thousands of office workers and students who use the metro to commute on a daily basis.

Even the schools in most places within the State are supposed to stay open. Nonetheless, in some regions, it might influence the availability of midday meals based on the involvement of the staff and logistics.
Although the strike will be experiencing action in various regions of the country, Karnataka seems to be ready to have a fairly normal day. It is still recommended that the citizens should follow official updates, but at this point, large-scale disruption is deemed unlikely.
