One of the greatest pioneers of Indian cinema, our veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra has passed away on the 24th of November (2025) at the age of 89.
Affectionately known as the “He-Man” of Bollywood, Dharmendra’s death wasn’t sudden, it was a result of his survival with prolonged respiratory issues that had even led to his hospitalization at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital.
This even led to circulation of rumors regarding his death, that was cleared by his sons.
Dharmendra’s acting journey began in the 1960’s. His six decade long cinematic journey was marked various prominent, versatile and charismatic roles that resonates with audience across generations.
His iconic role as Veeru in Sholay alongside Amitabh Bachchan brought thunders in the theaters. People went gaga over their dynamics. Along with this he had numerous movies like Phool aur Patthar, Chupke Chupke and many more.
With his dynamic screen presence he made sure that he did not just remain as a mainstream actor but also a household name.
After his discharge from the previous hospitalization on November 12, he was on continuous monitoring via health professionals at home until his health worsened. Despite the efforts of the medical aid and his family, Dharmendra passed away, leaving behind a legacy of it’s own that we all will remember.
According to reports his last rites were performed at Mumbai’s Pawn Hans crematorium in an even an intimate ceremony that was filled with grief and love for late actor.
His close family members, wife, Hema Malini (an icon) and his sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol were present for his last rites.
Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Amir Khan, Salman Khan, and many others gathered to pay tribute to our hall of famer.
His elder son, Sunny Deol performed the rituals as his fans and well wishers stood nearby, mourning the loss of our veteran.
He was also a pioneer in the political world. His fellow politicians also offered their condolences. Dharmendra’s legacy is not just his humble manner or his accomplishments but also his faith and brotherly love for his fellow actors and peers.
His accomplishments and attitude inspired many. Bollywood will never be the same without our beloved hero. His journey from humble beginnings to an accomplished veteran was truly impressive. A legacy that will resonate with generations.
