In the new Spider Noir series on Prime Video, Nicolas Cage plays Spider-Man.
The first teaser trailer for the program, which features the Marvel Comics Spider Verse character in live action for the first time, is shown below.
Cage plays Ben Reilly, an elderly and struggling private detective in 1930s New York who must deal with his former life as the city’s lone superhero. This is the Oscar winner’s first major TV series role.
The trailer’s tagline, With No Power Comes No Responsibility, displays Cage as a weary gumshoe and a web slinger dressed in black.
The episodes will be released in one big batch, according to Prime Video, which also revealed the premiere date of May 27.
The company also has a unique presentation for the project: Spider-Noir will be available to stream in two different ways, in Authentic Black & White and True Hue Full Color (the original comics were rather muted and monochromatic, but in color).
The entire cast consists of Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin), Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire), Abraham Popoola (Slow Horses), Karen Rodriguez (The Hunting Wives), Lamorne Morris (Fargo), and Li Jun Li (Sinners).
Sony Pictures Television produces Spider-Noir for MGM+ and Prime Video. The first two episodes were executive produced and directed by Harry Bradbeer (Fleabag).
