Wife Allegedly Plans Hit-and-run as Husband Dies in Honeymoon Murder 2.0

It was a Friday evening. Ashish and Anju, newlyweds from Rajasthan, were walking when they were hit by a car. Ashish died quickly, while Anju was robbed of her priceless valuables and left unconscious on the road.

Police were reminded of the honeymoon murder in Meghalaya, when a woman named Sonam Raghuvanshi killed her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, while they were on their honeymoon, after what had begun as a hit-and-run case took an entirely other turn.

According to the police investigation, Anju killed Ashish with the assistance of her lover, Sanju, and two other persons, and she tried to pass it off as an accident. Today, it’s known as the Rajasthani honeymoon murder.

According to Sri Ganganagar Police Superintendent Amrita Duhan, the officers were notified at approximately nine o’clock on the evening of January 30. A couple was found unconscious on the road, according to the police.

The physicians at the Community Health Center (CHC), where the couple was brought, pronounced Ashish dead. We were informed that a man had been hit by an unidentified vehicle, leading to his death. ”We conducted an accident site survey and contacted the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team to conduct a technical investigation,” Duhan added.

Anju, 23, told police that she and her husband were hit by an unidentifiable car while out for an evening stroll. She added that the gold jewelry she was wearing had been stolen. However, the police became suspicious during the inquiry when they noticed differences between Anju’s account and the reality on the ground.

According to the medical report, Ashish had injuries on his body and looked to have been strangled. However, Anju seemed to have escaped unharmed. Anju’s phone records also showed that she was in regular touch with Sanju, a male who resided nearby, according to the police sources.

Three months ago, Anju and Ashish got married, but Anju reportedly left for her homeland shortly after because she was unhappy. Anju had started accompanying Ashish on his post-dinner walks, Duhan claimed. There, she made amends with her ex-boyfriend, Sanju, and the two allegedly planned Ashish’s murder.

The three assailants, Sanju and his accomplices Rocky (also known as Rohit) and Badal (also known as Siddharth), were reportedly hidden in the bushes on the night of January 30 when Anju led Ashish to a remote road. They attacked him brutally and also strangled him and then tried to pass it off as a road accident, Dhuan said.

To give the impression that she had been robbed, Anju gave the accused her phone and earrings. She feigned to be asleep following the attack, but Ashish’s wounds caused the plot to fall apart. According to police sources, they became suspicious when Anju continued to alter her statements and contradict the timeline.

Similarities With Meghalaya’s Honeymoon Murder

Days after getting married in May, Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife, Sonam, took a plane to Meghalaya for their honeymoon. His body was discovered in the Meghalayan forest twelve days after he passed away.

Sonam and her lover, Raj Kushwaha, who used to work for her family’s company, planned to murder Raja while they were on their honeymoon and pretend it was an accident. Sonam was present when three hired men used machetes to attack Raja at Wei Sawdong Falls. The phone was turned off, and his body was flung into a ravine.
