200 Indians Sent Back from US, Including Anmol Bishnoi and Two Punjab Accused

Around 200 Indians were currently deported from the United States, which was also including Anmol Bishnoi and two fugitives who were wanted in Punjab. The deportees also include high-profile criminal suspects and even the undocumented migrants, thus reflecting on the strengthened India–US cooperation against all the crime networks.

The United States has recently deported around 200 Indian nationals to India, including the notorious Anmol Bishnoi and even the two fugitives who were wanted in Punjab. Bishnoi, who is the brother of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

They have been accused in several high-profile cases, including the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique and even in the case of involvement in the 2024 gun-firing incident outside Salman Khan’s residence.

Intelligence reports also suggest Bishnoi fled India in April 2022, using a forged passport, which is possibly Russian, after the murder of singer Sidhu Moosewala.

While in the US, he was also reportedly under electronic monitoring with an ankle bracelet.

Upon his arrival in New Delhi, Bishnoi was immediately arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which obtained 11-day custody to bring him under and interrogate him regarding his overseas network, the various funding channels, and even the coordination of criminal activities.

The two other fugitives who were from Punjab, also deported alongside him, are also wanted in multiple cases, thus highlighting the focus on interstate criminal networks.

Besides these high-profile cases, 197 undocumented Indian migrants were also deported as part of the same operation.

The move also helps to underscore the growing India–US cooperation in tracking fugitives, thus combating organised crime, and even in ensuring the return of criminals who escape overseas.

Authorities also aim to leverage this deportation so as to disrupt gang operations and even to investigate all the kinds of crime that are being operated from abroad.
