In a major security operation, police have now enacted and have seized around 360 kilograms of bomb-making chemicals from a location which is near Delhi. This seizure has been raising serious concerns over possible terror-related activities.
During the same operation, authorities have recently also discovered a rifle hidden inside a car, which has been reportedly owned by a local doctor, thus intensifying the investigation into the source and even the purpose of these materials.
According to the officials, the raid was recently conducted and was following specific intelligence inputs about all the suspicious movements that were being reported of chemical substances in the area.
The recovered material, which was believed to be ammonium nitrate and even included other explosive precursors, was now stored in large plastic containers.
Forensic experts have been called to the same location to help examine the seized substances and even assist in determining their potential for use in any kind of manufacturing explosives.
The police have also detained several suspects for the aspect of questioning, including the doctor whose vehicle was found carrying the rifle.
Investigators are also trying to trace the supply chain of the chemicals and can even identify any possible links to extremist groups or illegal arms networks that have been operating in and around the National Capital Region (NCR).
Senior officers have also confirmed that the discovery points toward a well-organised operation and that more raids may also follow in different parts of Delhi and even extend to the neighbouring states.
Security and surveillance systems have been tightened at major public places, various transportation hubs, and even government buildings as a precautionary measure.
Authorities have also now come up and urged the public to remain calm but also quite awake about the things and report if they suspect any kind of suspicious activity immediately.
This seizure now also highlights growing concerns over the regulation of illegal arms and explosives trafficking in the region near NCR and the need for stronger surveillance and coordination among all law enforcement agencies.
Investigations are still ongoing, and officials are pretty much confident that more details about the network behind the seized material will soon come to light.
