Maya Tata, daughter of Noel Tata, who is the chairman of Tata Trusts, is currently thought to be looking at leaving Tata Digital as the firm undergoes restructuring. It has been reported that Maya is currently looking at other business units within the Tata group as it re-evaluates some of its recent business ventures.
This comes in a time when the business unit has increasingly come under scrutiny due to worries about loss of money and rate of growth in their digital ventures. The corporation, which comprises platforms like Tata Neu, BigBasket, Croma and Tata 1mg among others, has received considerable financial backing from Tata Sons over the years as part of their digital growth initiative.
According to the reports Maya Tata is considering positions within other Tata Group firms, such as Trent and Tata Consumer Products. As per her preferences, she seems to favour Trent over all the other options. Nonetheless, there has been no official confirmation of a switch from her side yet.
In case of such an action being taken by the organization, Maya Tata would join her brother Neville Tata who is associated with the organization, in its retail sector which controls Star Bazaar. Noell Tata acts as a chairman of one of the largest and most successful retail companies within the Tata Group of Companies called Trent.
While her siblings had limited exposure to the diverse portfolios of the Tata Group, Maya Tata has had the opportunity to work for several Tata business ventures during her career. Her first venture into the corporate world was through Tata Capital, which was followed by Tata Digital.

The development has come in light of various deliberations that are taking place within the Tata Group related to governance, leadership succession, and the performance of capital-intensive companies. Some deliberations that have taken place recently within Tata Trusts and Tata Sons relate to Tata Digital, Air India, and Tata Electronics, among others.
Despite Tata Digital remaining vital in driving the group’s digital agenda, it will be interesting to see how the group responds to the recent reshuffle and leadership changes. Both Tata Sons and Tata Digital have not made any statement about the speculation surrounding Maya Tata.
