Hyundai Creta Summer Edition arrives with added features, starts Rs 12.06 lakh

Hyundai has introduced the Creta Summer Edition in India with additional features on various variants at a starting price of Rs 12.06 lakh, comes with petrol and diesel engines with various transmission options.

Hyundai Motor India Limited has added a new Summer-break Edition of its top selling SUV, Hyundai Creta, in the Indian market. The special edition has a starting price of Rs 12.06 lakh (ex-showroom) to Rs 17.89 lakh, as per the variant and configuration.

What’s new in the Summer Edition

The Summer Edition is mostly the same design as the regular Creta but with variants offered with a variety of features. The foundation EX model now receives a smart key and push-button start, which is more convenient.

Climbing the ladder, the EX(O) model will have additional lighting features such as quad-beam LED headlamps, LED tail lamps, LED DRLs and front and rear LED turn signals. It also introduces functionalities such as a rear window sunshade and a rear camera equipped with dynamic guidelines.

Feature upgrades in higher variants

More expensive trims, like S(O) and S(O) Knight, add a dashcam, which is gaining popularity with customers.

SX variant includes a 10.25-inch multi-screen digital cluster and a dashcam, whereas SX Premium includes more advanced functionalities such as a surround view monitor, blind-spot view monitor, and front parking sensors.

Engine and transmission options

The Summer Edition has the same engine choices as the standard model. Buyers have the option of an MPi petrol engine with 1.5 litre and a 1.5 litre diesel engine. Depending on the variant, it is offered in terms of transmission: manual, iVT, and automatic.

But this special edition has never been provided with the turbo petrol engine.

Pricing spread across variants

The prices begin with the petrol manual EX model of the car, priced at Rs 12.05 lakh and extend to the highest priced diesel manual SX Premium model at Rs 17.88 lakh. There are several options in EX, EX(O), S(O), S(O) Knight, SX, and SX Premium trims providing buyers with a variety of options.

What it means for buyers

The Summer Edition will take on more features across trims to provide greater value without significant changes in design. It aims at consumers who want an increased level of convenience and safety but without having to leave the familiar Creta package.

The relocation will probably assist Hyundai to remain competitive in the compact SUV market where addition of features can be a major consideration by buyers.
