A 19-year-old Tripuran woman has described in graphic detail the abuse she endured at the hands of her live-in lover in Gurugram. The teenager, who is critically ill and receiving treatment at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi, told police that the perpetrator covered her intimate areas with sanitizer and then set them on fire.
She said that after hitting her head with a metal bottle and smashing it on furniture in the residence, the accused, Shivam (19), proceeded to attack her with a knife.
According to the woman’s testimony to the Gurugram Police, her spouse pushed her to have sex under the guise of marriage, and the abuse lasted for three days in a row.
After a quarrel over their marriage preparations, the survivor, a biotechnology student in Gurugram, claims that her partner raped her on February 19. She is currently in critical condition. In Delhi, she is receiving care at Safdarjung Hospital. Shivam, a native of Delhi, has been taken into jail by police.
Police say the woman moved in with Shivam in Sector 69, Gurugram, after meeting him on an internet dating app in September 2025. According to reports, the families had started discussing marriage.
According to preliminary investigations, the pair got into a violent altercation over their plans for marriage late at night. According to authorities, medical examinations have verified that the victim sustained numerous serious injuries.
The survivor was initially brought to a government hospital in Gurugram in a severe condition, according to Gurugram DCP (South) Hitesh Yadav. Because of the severity of her injuries, she was eventually sent to AIIMS and then Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi for more specialized care.
After the woman’s mother informed the police, the case was made public. She stated, I didn’t know my daughter lived with the accused, but she called me and begged me to protect her from the assault.
The mother has insisted on the addition of rape and murder attempt accusations.
Sections 115(2) (voluntarily inflicting harm), 118(1) (causing harm by dangerous weapons), 127(2) (wrongful detention), 69 (sexual intercourse by fraudulent means or false promise of marriage), and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) have all been utilized to file a formal complaint against the accused.

According to police, more investigation is being conducted, and based on medical results, more charges may be considered.
